Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) to offer reflections on 50th Anniversary of the meeting between Pope Paul and Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras, June 28-29
His Excellency Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia will be presenting a lecture, entitled, "Let Us Embrace Each Other: Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Meeting Between Pope Paul VI & Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras in Jerusalem," on June 28 - June 29, 2014. The lecture is presented by St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Gradyville, PA.
His Excellency is a Titular Metropolitan of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Great Britain and is one of the best-known contemporary Eastern Orthodox theologians.
From 1966-2001, he was Spalding Lecturer of Eastern Orthodox Studies at Oxford University, and has authored numerous books and articles pertaining to the Orthodox Christian faith.
The creed doesn't say the spirit proceeds from the Father alone & St John Damascene says it proceeds from the Father through the Son & Maximus the Confessor says it's not a heretical teaching for the Latin church 'cuz they teach the Father is the sole source of the persons; the principle without principle. What's sad is that many orthodox today condemn it without even studying the controversy from both sides 'cuz if they would, they would see many saints canonized in the east & western church taught it.
That will NEVER happen. Forget about it. The schism is complete and final. There can be NO union. It was over a thousand years ago. Patriarch Bartholomew should not be meeting with Francis. There is nothing to discuss. End of story.
