Schismatics and nationalists seize a church in western Ukraine

Representatives of the self-proclaimed Kiev Patriarchate and the Right Sector (an organization banned in Russia - IF) captured the St. Anna Church in the Kuty village in the Ternopol Region, Ukraine.

"Church raiders cut the lock and rushed into the church, not allowing the UOC believers inside, who are the legal owners of the church," the press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.

The church was closed about half a year ago when schismatics started regularly interrupting the Divine services of the local Orthodox community.

Today believers come to celebrate Divine Liturgies in a pavilion set up on a private territory.

From the beginning of the military actions in Ukraine representatives of the so-called Kiev Patriarchate, often supported by nationalists and local authorities, have seized several dozens of UOC churches.

The Uniates’ actions were supported by deputy of the Buchach district council Andrei Buchinsky (the Svoboda (“Freedom”) Ukrainian radical nationalist party) accompanied by over 50 young people with “balaclava” helmets on their heads and dressed in camouflage, who called themselves “the Right Sector”, reports the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC MP).
