"A person must have zeal and persistently search for a place—a parish in the 'world' or a monastery—where there is authentic, traditional Orthodox Christianity. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, 'Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.'”
The Holy Elder Philotheos (Zervakos) points out the qualities of the good Confessor or Spiritual Father using St. Arsenios of Paros (1800-1877) as his exemplar. These qualities are particularly the following: humility, gentleness, patience, discernment, compassion and love. These virtues, he says, Father Arsenios eminently possessed.
