Four men arrested in connection with break-in at Patriarch Bartholomew’s residence (+ VIDEO)

Four local men were arrested this week and charged with a break-in at the residence of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople in the Phanar section of the city, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency with reference to euronews.

Pat. Bartholomew was not in the residence at the time, and no items were stolen.

Security cameras recorded three masked men, which was used to track the suspects. The suspects opened fire on the police, who fired back, leaving one suspect wounded. He was taken to the hospital, where he is under police guard.

The Governor of Istanbul thanked the officers who brought the men in and noted that the investigation into the matter continues.
