Pointe-Noire, Congo, December 26, 2019
As the Orthodox faithful of the Congo were preparing to celebrate the Nativity in the Flesh of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ, a large number of those who had prepared themselves were united to His death and Resurrection in the holy Mystery of Baptism.
On Tuesday, December 24, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Brazzaville and Gabon celebrated the Baptism of 52 people of all ages, reports Romfea.
The service was celebrated at the outdoor baptistery of the Cathedral of St. Demetrios in Pointe-Noire, Congo, for people coming from the city’s parish communities.
As always, Met. Panteleimon described and interpreted the service of Holy Baptism and Chrismation and addressed a paternal word of encouragement to the newly-illumined.
117 people were united to Christ in two mass Baptisms last December. In February, more than 500 Tanzanians received holy Baptism, and in October, 75 were baptized in Uganda.
