Volyn Diocese charity concert raises $11,000 for orphaned, sick children (+VIDEO)

Every year, the Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church organizes a charity Christmas concert for the benefit of orphans and others in need of critical support. The 26th annual concert was held this year on January 21 at the Volyn Academic Provincial Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater.

In all, the event raised more than $11,000 (269,700 hyrvnia), reports the diocesan press service.

The event was opened by His Eminence Archbishop Nathanael of Volyn who stressed the importance of the event for the faithful of Volyn, as entire generations of Orthodox faithful have grown up attending the event.

The charity concert was attended by a number of parish choirs from throughout the diocese, a choir of priests, a seminarian choir, as well as various secular groups, Sunday School students, and many other performers.

There was also a special performance by Archpriest Alexander Klimenko, the winner of the show “Voice of the Country 2017.”

The diocese also stressed that the collection of charitable assistance continues.
