The pediatric department of the Arad County Hospital in western Romania will soon be the recipient of a generous donation from the Romanian Orthodox Church.

The Archdiocese of Arad held a charity concert at the Hall of the Cultural Palace in Arad on January 22, which raised just over $8,000 (34,774 lei) for the hospital, reports the Archdiocesan press service.

The funds, donated through the Archdiocese’s philanthropic association, will be put towards the modernization of the pediatric department.

The concert was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Timotei of Arad and His Grace Bishop Emilian of Crișan, vicar of the Archdiocese of Arad, and local officials.

The benefit concert featured a number of children’s choirs, an orchestra, and many other performers.

“We thank God and all those who appreciate the Church's involvement in community service, for the good of the children and all those who need help,” the report concludes.
