A new social mission of the Moldovan Orthodox Church officially opened recently on the territory of the Holy Ascension Cathedral in the capital city of Chișinău.
His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău blessed the inauguration of the new center dedicated to the Joy of All Who Sorrow Icon of the Mother of God, to provide social care to all persons in need, reports the Synodal Department of Social Activity and Charity of the Moldovan Church.
Through the center, the Church intends to help people from socially vulnerable families, lonely elderly people, people who have nowhere to lay their heads, families with many children, and more. The center also aims to help children from vulnerable environments to develop and integrate into society harmoniously.
The Joy of All Who Sorrow center will provide a wide range of cultural, educative, and charitable activities, including Bible studies, conferences, children and youth activities, a social canteen, and the provision of clothes to the needy. The activities will be implemented by members of the “Fr. Sofian Boghiu” volunteers.
