The autonomous UOC has its own independent and fully functioning Holy Synod that has the authority to canonize its own saints.

Thus, three new saints were canonized and approved for local veneration in the Kamensk Diocese: the Hieromartyrs Vasily Vakhnin, Joseph Chekhranov, and Theodore Romanovsky, reports the Information-Education Department of the UOC.

The Synod also approved their troparion and kontakion, a prayer to the new saints, and icons of the new saints.

All three priests were shot and killed by the godless soviet authorities in 1937.

Several other saints who served within the Berdyansk Diocese were added to the Synaxis of Berdyansk Saints, and the troparion and kontakion for the Synaxis and a prayer to the saints were also approved.
