Following the call of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, the churches, monasteries, and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have devoted much of their time and money to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

On April 14, the international Holy Protection charitable fund, founded by Ukrainian Deputy Vadim Novinsky, delivered more than 850,000 protective masks to Met. Onuphry for the faithful of the UOC for the Paschal services.

The high-quality, three-layer masks with a disinfecting layer, which the foundation purchased in China, will be distributed free of charge at parishes, reports the foundation’s website.

Met. Onuphry thanked Deputy Novinsky for all his help in battling the coronavirus. His foundation has donated artificial ventilation devices, protective gowns and suits and glasses, and masks, His Beatitude noted.

The foundation also donated 100,000 coronavirus tests.

Meanhile, the nuns of the Holy Archangel Michael Monastery in Odessa are busy baking more than 10,000 Paschal breads to be blessed and delivered to doctors, orphanages, nursing homes, and boarding schools, reports the Odessa Diocese.

The kulichi are made following all necessary sanitary standards and with unceasing prayer that the Lord would bless those who eat them.
