The policemen began to carry icons, candlesticks, banners and vestments out of the church. All of a sudden Daria Semyonovna Bubnova, mincing along, approached a policeman and said to him affectionately: “Sonny, please leave us an icon.”
In the ancient village of Stromyn near Moscow the author recorded the amazing story of the salvation of the miraculous Cypriot “Stromyn” Icon of the Mother of God.

The doctor in charge was shocked and, after a pause, looked at Maria Semyonovna and threw up his hands: “There is nothing to say here. Apparently, the ‘universe’ heard you.”
Thus, “exuding the precious myrrh of mercy and an inexhaustible sea of miracles to the whole world,” St. Nicholas walks the face of the earth, from Alabama to Buzuluk. There are St. Nicholas churches all across the world, and every family has stories of help from the wonderworker of Myra in Lycia.
I recalled everybody—both the living and the departed, those from Boston, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Samara… All of us--both on the earth and in eternity, those who are visible and invisible—we are together in the same Church and make one family in Christ.
