Kiev, February 4, 2021
On February 1, the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine announced it will pay for sociological surveys to be conducted among the gay population.
The announcement comes just after news that the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture spent budgetary funds to purchase LGBT-propaganda comic books for children.
It is planned to allocate $366,670 (10,240,669 hryvnia) from the state budget for “Services for organizing and conducting an integrated biobehavioral study among men who have sex with men in 2021,” according to the public procurement system prozorro, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists.
Responding to the announcement, His Grace Bishop Viktor of Baryshevka, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s delegation to European international organizations, remarked that Ukrainians are gradually being habituated to the idea that unnatural homosexual relationships the norm.
The idea is being pushed that such perverse relations indicate a “high civilizational consciousness,” His Grace wrote on Telegram.
LGBT ideology is being aggressively imposed and its supporters are unwilling to enter into a discussion and hear the other side, Bp. Viktor writes, because of a “lack of conviction of their own rightness.”
We must remember that culture has been shaped by certain axiomatic principles, including that marriage is between one man and woman, the hierarch writes. That is, the law of God is the heart of civilization, but now we are seeing attempts to construct a new civilization, “where there is no longer a place for Christian morality and Christians in general,” he concludes.
Bp. Viktor also responded to the LGBT comic books earlier this week, saying the move by the estate represents “a struggle with the traditional values of Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian Parliament also plans to consider a draft law on amendments to the criminal code providing for tougher penalties for supposedly violating the rights of homosexuals and transsexuals—up to 5 years in prison.
