“With the help of God and the great contribution of the treating doctors and the nursing staff,” His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol of the Cypriot Orthodox Church was discharged from the hospital in Nicosia yesterday.

His Eminence tested positive for the coronavirus last Tuesday, March 23, though he was asymptomatic and in good health at that time. He initially went into self-isolation but was later admitted to the hospital in the capital city as he began to show signs of sickness.

“The medical treatment he received has been completed and the symptoms of the coronavirus have subsided. His Eminence will remain in the metropolitan house in self-isolation,” the Metropolis of Limassol announced yesterday.

The Metropolis “expresses its deepest thanks and gratitude” to all the hospital staff who helped Met. Athanasios and to all who prayed for him.
