Abbot Andrei (Kozlov) of the St. John the Forerunner Monastery in the village of Borok in the Kostroma Province, who went missing on April 9, has been found dead, reports Regnum.

It is known that Fr. Andrei left the monastery six days аго, taking personal money and his identification with him. The cause of death is still being established.

“His whole life was connected with the monastery, which he worked for many years to restore and beautify,” turning it into a pilgrimage and spiritual center of the northeast Kostroma Diocese, writes the Kostroma Metropolis.

The Kostroma Theological Seminary also commented on the sudden death of the abbot: “He will be remembered as a true monk, a great expert on the typikon, a kind and sympathetic pastor. We will soon learn the circumstances of his death, but it is obvious that he unreservedly gave his whole life to God and the Church.”

His funeral and buried will be served at the monastery on Sunday.

May his memory be eternal!
