The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is holding its annual cross procession in honor of the Baptism of Rus’ in Kiev today.

This year, the hierarchs, clergy, monastics, and faithful of the canonical UOC are joined by delegations from the Antiochian and Serbian Patriarchates and the Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.

The day’s prayerful events begin at 1:00 PM with a moleben on St. Vladimir Hill, followed by the large-scale procession to the Holy Dormition-Kiev Caves Lavra, where the All-Night Vigil for the feast of St. Vladimir and the Baptism of Rus’ will be celebrated.

A delegation from the Serbian Orthodox Church consisting of His Grace Bishop Stefan of Remesiana and His Grace Bishop Jerotej of Toplica arrived in Kiev yesterday, reports the UOC’s Department for External Church Relations.

His Eminence Archbishop Michael of Prague of the Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia also arrived in Kiev yesterday. His Grace Bishop Ephraim of Seleuica of the Patriarchate of Antioch arrived today.

All the hierarchs were greeted at the airport by hierarchs and clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Several wonderworking icons have also been brought from all over Ukraine for the moleben and procession: the Pochaev, Svyatogorsk, Kasperov, and Zimne Icons of the Mother of God, and an icon of St. Vladimir with a particle of his relics.
