His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia will make his first pastoral visit to America this fall.
According to an announcement from the Diocese of New Gračanica and Midwestern America, the Serbian primate will visit the Chicago area, beginning with a Doxology service at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago on Tuesday evening, October 12.
He will also celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the cathedral on Saturday, October 16, followed by a festive banquet for the centennial celebration of the American-Canadian Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
There is limited seating for the banquet on October 16. For more details, see the diocesan website.
His Holiness was elected as the 46th Patriarch of the Serbian Church on February 18 and enthroned the next day, following the repose of his predecessor, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej on November 20.
Pat. Irinej visited America several times, including just a few months before his repose in the spring of 2020. He also visited California in September 2015 for the celebration of the canonization of the Serbian-American saints Mardarije Uskoković and Sebastian Dabović.
