With his state policy of persecution against the Orthodox Church, former President Petro Poroshenko became a follower of satan, says a representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
“There’s a snare for persecutors, that none of them notice,” His Eminence Metropolitan Kliment of Nezhin of Priluky, head of the Ukrainian Church’s Information-Education Department, told RIA-Novosti.
“When they fight with the Church, they unavoidably become God-fighters—followers of satan, whose place is in eternal hell,” His Eminence explained, adding that, of course, it’s never too late for repentance, and history knows of the repentance of even great persecutors of the Church, though such cases are few.
But “God never pushes away a repentant sinner,” the hierarch assured.
And, according to Met. Kliment, the above is true of Poroshenko, who teamed up with the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the U.S. State Department to launch persecution against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
During his time in office, Poroshenko referred to the Orthodox Church as “Moscow demons,” he declared that the Church has no place in Ukraine, and he insisted that the Orthodox Church worships a different god than Ukrainians.
History shows that the Church has been persecuted by secular authorities, who fear the authority of the Church among the people, from the very beginning, His Eminence noted. Therefore, the authorities sought to control Christians, and if that didn’t work, “then the open physical persecution of Christians and attempts at their complete extermination began.”
“But, fortunately, the Orthodox Church is ruled not by men, but God. And he manages everything in history in the name of saving man from sin,” Met. Kliment concluded.
