More than a dozen people were baptized into Christ in Haiti on the day after Christmas. The joyous event was the latest in a year full of Baptisms.

“We are glad to baptize 13 new members today at the end of this year. May God bless them all and help them out with their wise decision. Axiooooossss!” writes Fr. Barnabas Jerome of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in the Pétionville suburb of Port-au-Prince.

Fr. Barnabas reported several such mass Baptisms throughout 2021. Several were baptized in March; more than 15 in early July; several in mid-July; 5 babies and 7 adults in August; and 16 people were baptized in October.

In September, OrthoChristian reported that construction has begun on a church, classrooms, a kitchen, and storage space for the parish of Blessed Augustine in Jacmel, under the Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
