Patriarch Porfirije distributes Christmas gifts to underprivileged children

The Archdiocese of Belgrade held a charitable program at the Cathedral of St. Sava yesterday, during which the Serbian primate distributed Christmas gifts to underprivileged children.

In all, more than 1,000 gifts were given to orphans and children from large families, reports the Serbian Orthodox Church.

This is the fifth year in a row that the Charitable Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade, in cooperation with the administration of the Church of St. Sava and the Committee for Religious Instruction, has distributed Christmas gifts to Belgrade children.

The event was also attended by several other Serbian hierarchs, Patriarchate employees, the director of the Center for the Protection of Infants, Children, and Youth, and Kathy Fanslow, President of the “Our Serbs” organization from Chicago that provided the gifts.

The Slavujčići children’s choir also performed for the audience.
