Yesterday, two hierarchs of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church visited the chanceries of both the Orthodox Church in America and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in New York.

His Grace Bishop Viktor of Baryshevka, the Ukrainian Church’s representative to European international organizations, and His Grace Bishop Dionysiy of Pereyaslav and Khmelnitsky have been visiting churches in America since late last month.

Notably, they celebrated the Divine Liturgy and a moleben before the relics of St. John (Maximovitch) at the ROCOR cathedral in San Francisco last week.

Visiting the OCA chancery in Syosset yesterday, the hierarchs were welcomed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon to the St. Sergius Chapel, where they were able to venerate the relics of American Russian saints housed there, the OCA reports.

Bp. Viktor also shared a video from the meeting:

Bishops Viktor and Dionysiy conveyed the greetings of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine and thanked Met. Tikhon for taking the time to meet with them and for the support of the OCA in the ecclesiastical crisis.

The OCA Holy Synod officially voiced its refusal to recognize the Ukrainian schismatics in January 2019.

In turn, the OCA primate asked the visiting hierarchs to convey his greetings to Met. Onuphry, and they explained that the UOC remains strong through the grace of God and the leadership of Met. Onuphry.

They also invited Met. Tikhon to visit Ukraine in the near future.
