At the initiative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and local authorities, religious banners and billboards with icons and Scriptural quotes have been popping up all over Ukraine.
In the Alexandria Diocese, banners reading, “Most Holy Theotokos, Save Ukraine,” have been installed by a number of churches, and it’s planned to install them at every church, the diocese reports.
In Odessa, billboards with an icon of the Holy Protection of the Mother of God, and the same words: “Most Holy Theotokos, Save Ukraine,” have been put up along the highways, the Odessa Diocese reports.

At the request of the UOC, the Megaboard company provided 15 such billboards throughout the city.
Billboards with prayers and Scriptural quotes have also appeared in several cities. In Cherkasy, they feature prayers to the Archangel Michael, the Mother of God, and all the saints of the Cherkasy land.
In the Darnitsky District of Kiev, quotes from the Psalms have replaced alcohol and tobacco ads, and in Brovary, Scriptural quotes have also replaced obscene language on billboards.
