Yesterday, following the service for the Sunday of the Cross, another around of humanitarian aid was sent to the Ukrainian people from Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi.

In all, 28 tons of food, medicine, hygiene products, water, clothes, and baby food products were sent with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsqu, the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal throne, reports the Georgian Orthodox Church.

This was the third such shipment from the Georgian Church. In total, more than 44 tons of aid has been sent to Ukraine since last month.

OrthoChristian has reported on the humanitarian efforts of the Orthodox Churches several times since the fratricidal war in Ukraine began.

As of March 15, the Romanian Church had spent $4 million on aid for refugees and those suffering in Ukraine. A fundraiser by the Orthodox Church in America raised $650,000 for refugees in Poland. Last week, 60 tons of aid were sent to Ukraine from two dioceses in Russia. Many other Churches have also provided substantial aid.
