Thanks to the efforts of the St. Matrona of Moscow Educational and Missionary Center in Davao City on the Filipino island of Mindanao, a new Cebuano-language Orthodox prayer book has been published.

According to the Russian Church’s Diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam, this is the first Orthodox prayer book in the Cebuano language, spoken by about 15.8 million people, mainly on the southern islands.

The collection includes morning and evening prayers, the rule of preparation for Holy Communion, prayers for every need, and the Paschal Hours.

“A prayer book in the Cebuano language will be in demand for local residents, since several hundred Filipinos have converted to Orthodoxy recently, having passed the appropriate catechesis. And the number of such people continues to increase,” the diocese reports.

The Center previously published the text of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom in December.
