Donations for Patriarch Kirill’s name’s day will go to Donetsk hospital

Parish donations in honor of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow’s name’s day will be used to purchase necessary medical equipment for a hospital in the city of Gorlovka in the disputed Donetsk People’s Republic.

In particular, the donations, offered in lieu of flowers, will be used to purchase a modern X-ray machine, reports the Synodal Department for Charity and Social Service.

The Patriarch first began calling for donations to the needy instead of the traditional flowers for his birthday, name’s day, Christmas, and Pascha six years ago.

In 2016, the funds collected for his name’s day were used to purchase new medical equipment for the Church’s St. Alexei Hospital in Moscow, in 2017 they went toward suffering Syrians and the Moscow hospital, and in 2018, thanks to donations on the anniversary of the Patriarch’s enthronement, the hospital received a new reanimobile.

His Holiness turned 73 on November 20. According to his tradition of the past few years, the Patriarch asked clergy and parishes to transfer funds for the purchase of necessary hospital equipment instead of giving him flowers. Pat. As has become a tradition for him, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has again called on people to donate funds for the Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexis, which is under the auspices of the Synodal Department for Charity and Social Services, in lieu of the flowers that are traditionally given to bishops for memorable dates and events.
