200+ baptized in Africa over the weekend

More than 200 people were baptized in several African countries over the weekend.

In the city of Zomba, Malawi, the local dean of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Patriarchal Exarchate, Fr. George Chabera, together with Fr. Timothy Chintenga received 170 people into the Church through the holy Sacrament of Baptism, the Exarchate reports.

Photo: exarchate-africa.ru Photo: exarchate-africa.ru The same day, Frs. Titus Kipnjen and Christopher Kibiwat baptized 34 people at the Church of St. Zosima in Chemelil, Kenya.

Finally, four people were baptized the same day in Antisrabe, Madagascar, by Fr. Nicholas Ramarusun.

OrthoChristian also reported on the baptism of 29 former Protestants in Chinsewu, Malawi, last week.

In May, more than 200 people were baptized by Bishop Chrysostomos of Bukoba and Western Tanzania of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
