The feast of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord brought a special blessing for the Orthodox faithful of the village of Dzvynyacha in the Ternopil Diocese.

The parish welcomed their hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Ternopil, who consecrated their new worship space together with their priest, Fr. Feodor Martyniuk, who just returned to the Church after months of schism, reports the human rights activist Victoria Kokhanovskaya.

Fr. Feodor was originally banned from serving on May 23 for joining the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine.”

After he left and took the church building with him, the faithful organized a chapel inside a private residence, which Met. Sergei consecrated yesterday.

Fr. Feodor expressed his regret and repentance to Met. Sergei and his parishioners, who readily forgave him and accepted him back.

In August, another repentant priest spoke about his agonizing three weeks spent in schism.
