8 nuns tonsured at Ukrainian convent

Several young women gave their lives to Christ in monasticism at a convent in northwestern Ukraine last week.

Photo: eparhia.dp.ua Photo: eparhia.dp.ua At the request of Abbess Parthenia, His Eminence Metropolitan Irinei of Dnepropetrovsk visited the Holy Trinity-Korets Convent in the Rivne Province and served the rite of tonsure for eight new nuns on Tuesday, October 18, the Dnepropetrovsk Diocese reports.

The new nuns Natalia, Ksenia, Ksenia, Nadezhda, Daria, Tatiana, Maria, and Maria range in age from 26 to 37.

At the end of the service, Met. Irinei offered an edifying word for the newly tonsured nuns, and then celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with the monastery clergy.

The Holy Trinity-Korets Convent was founded by Princess Seraphima of Korets (+1633), who was canonized by the Ukrainian Holy Synod on December 6, 2019. Her canonization was liturgically celebrated on June 24, 2021.
