A new Church-operated social-missionary center equipped to help hundreds of people recently opened in Iași County in eastern Romania.

On Sunday afternoon, October 23, His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan of Moldova and Bukovina blessed the new center at the Church of the Holy Archangels Micheal and Gabriel in Belcești. The center was named in honor of the Hieromartyr Charalambos, reports Doxologia.ro.

The event was attended by members of the parish community, local priests, and public officials.

The construction of the social-missionary center began in 2016. The blessing of the center also marks the 40th anniversary of the Fr. Mihai Zaharia’s ministry in Belcești.

The center is designed for a capacity of 200 people on the ground floor, with an attic divided into 9 rooms.

Fr. Mihai was honored with the Cross of the Holy Hierarch Joseph the Merciful for his coordination and realization of the new parish center.
