Despite the inclement weather, the catechumens waited anxiously from seven in the morning for the Orthros, Divine Liturgy, and Baptism services, celebrated by Metropolitan Meletios of Katanga.

In April, more than five dozen people were baptized in the Congo by Metropolitan Chariton of Kananga. In October, more than four dozen members of a non-canonical Orthodox group were received into the Russian Church’s African Exarchate in the Congo.
