Five stands are dedicated to St. Innocent of Irkutsk, whose relics are kept in the Znamensky Monastery, and five to St. Innocent the Enlightener of Siberia and America. A booklet especially dedicated to his ministry at Fort Ross in California is available for download by QR code on one of the stands.
The opening of the alley was attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Maximilian of Irkutsk, Mayor Ruslan Bolotov of Irkutsk, and other public figures and volunteers from the local diocese.
The Metropolitan explained that the Lord blesses us through the prayerful help of the saints, and so the people of Irkutsk should know about the lives and spiritual exploits of their native saints.
The St. Innocent Cultural and Educational Center in Anga, the birthplace of St. Innocent of Alaska, helped prepare the new exhibition. The Center was founded in 2017, and in 2021, an OCA-ROCOR delegation visited the Center, bringing materials for the “St. Innocent and Fort Ross” exhibition.
