A chapel and holy spring in the Holy Dormition-Kiev Caves Lavra were vandalized earlier this week, including with Nazi symbols.

On the night of September 20, unknown persons desecrated the chapel of the Praise of the Caves Icon of the Mother of God and the Tears of the Most Holy Theotokos holy spring, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists with reference to the Telegram channel of Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the Lavra’s lawyer.

The attackers vandalized the walls with paint, and also drew swords and a Icon Cross, a symbol that was used by Nazi Germany, on the steps leading to the spring.

Fr. Nikita notes that police were called to the scene.

A man vandalized an icon of Christ the Savior in the Lavra’s Church of St. Agapit last month. In July, vandals set fire to a wonderworking icon of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Ukrainian Volyn Province.
