The Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Zagreb, Croatia, suffered serious damage from an earthquake in March 2020.
Transfiguration Cathedral is located in the heart of Zagreb on Petar Preradović Square. The present building dates to the second half of the 19th century. The congregation numbers several thousands of Orthodox faithful, including Serbs and many people from the former USSR now living in Zagreb. Services resumed in the church two months after the earthquake. His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije was Metropolitan of Zagreb at that time.

And on Friday, December 8, more than 3.5 years after the tragedy, the reconstructed dome was placed atop the cathedral, which completes one of the last major stages of the restoration of the church, reports the Metropolis of Zagreb and Ljubljana.
The reconstructed dome is one of the most beautiful in Zagreb, said Radivoje Jovičić, painter and senior conservator-restorer, who worked on it for almost a year. It is expected to last for another 100 years.
Two days after the placement of the dome, Pat. Porfirije celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the cathedral.
