The Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel has helped a family rebuild their home after it was damaged by a fire on June 1.

The Decșilă family, from the village of Valea Bradului, Argeș County, also received clothing and hygiene products last week from the Archdiocese’s Social-Philanthropic and Mission Sector. The family includes parents and three children, reports Trinitas TV.

Representatives of the diocesan center have begun work on an extension to the house, and plan to install a heating system along with the necessary utilities.

“We couldn’t remain indifferent to their suffering, and so this family with three children is receiving a most valuable gift from the Archdiocese, namely the rebuilding of their home. We’re not the only ones who have contributed—many fellow villagers, as well as other institutions, have also been involved in rebuilding the house,” said Fr. Andrei Diaconescu, diocesan counselor within the Social-Philanthropic Sector.

So far, builders have completed two rooms, with the extension expected to be finished by the end of next month. Fr. Andrei expressed hope that the work would be completed by the end of summer, so that the children could move into the new home at the start of the school year. The family expressed gratitude to the church, the priest, and all those who came to their aid.

The Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel said it will continue to support the Decșilă family in the period ahead.
