Texas ROCOR parish makes 15 more catechumens, bringing total to 90

A Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russian parish in central Texas enrolled 15 new catechumens on Sunday, September 6.

Fr. Moses McPherson, rector of the Holy Mother of God Church in Georgetown, reports that the new catechumens bring the total back up to around 90.

The Holy Mother of God Church is one of many that are quickly growing across America. Last year, OrthoChristian reported that the parish purchased a $2 million mansion and property to build a new church and an expansive Orthodox center in Hutto, Texas, just north of Austin.

Fr. Moses also referred to the prayerful preparation of the parish’s catechumens for Baptism:

During a year of catechism we read the exorcism prayers about 5 times over someone before the day of their baptism. And then we read them one final time on the day their baptism. Glory to God! America will be holy!

Earlier this week, OrthoChristian reported on an OCA parish in Texas that currently has 55 catechumens.
