On August 10 the center of Horlivka was shelled again, reports the website of the Horlivka and Sloviansk Diocese.
This time the shell exploded near the Theophany Cathedral during the Eucharistic canon. People who then were near the cathedral fencing and at the stop, were injured.
These were Horlivka residents who for more than a week have been taking refuge inside the lower church, temporarily used as a bomb shelter. They went out to walk around the church a little and to have a breath of fresh air.
Six people received injuries of varying severity and were immediately taken to city hospital №2, where they received medical assistance.
One of the injured, a woman, lost her hand. Another victim, a man, has a shrapnel injury of the legs. Shrapnel lodged in head of another man. The severity of the traumas and their state are not ascertained yet.
Earlier as a result of direct hit of an artillery shell, the wooden Church of the Annunciation burned down in Horlivka.
The city residents, escaping shelling, are taking refuge inside the lower church of the Theophany Cathedral, which is open 24 hours a day.
