Despite the ongoing persecution and propaganda against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its dioceses are remaining faithful to it. A number of dioceses have already openly expressed their support for the Church’s canonical status as a self-governing autonomous body and for their primate His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, and another two have joined them—the Lugansk and Mukachevo Dioceses.

Issues related to the illegal actions of the Ecumenical Patriarchate were discussed at a meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Lugansk Diocese on November 2 at the diocesan administration under the chairmanship of His Eminence Metropolitan Mitrophan of Lugansk and Alchevsk, reports the diocesan website.

The Diocesan Council “expressed support for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and then called on the flock of the Lugansk Diocese to strengthen their prayers for the unity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and in particular for Metropolitan Onuphry as the sole lawful primate of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.”

At the meeting, chaired by His Eminence Metropolitan Theodore of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod, topical issues of the life of the Ukrainian Church were discussed, with the result that, “The deans and heads of all the monasteries of the Mukachevo Diocese unanimously expressed their support for His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine and the canonical structure of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”

The same support for the canonical Church and Met. Onuphry has also been expressed by the Dioceses of Alexandria, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Voznesensk, Tulchin, Rivne, Kherson, Kirovograd, Kirovograd, Severodonetsk, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Krivoy Rog, Kamenka, Zaporozhye, and Poltava.
