Patriarch Ilia of Georgia blesses children with Down Syndrome (+ PHOTOS)

Several children had the special chance to personally visit with His Holiness Patriarch-Catholicos Ilia II of Georgia on Monday and receive his blessing.

Several touching images from the visit, showing the joy on both the patriarch’s and the children’s faces, have been posted on the Georgian Patriarchate’s website. Patriarcha Ilia is widely known as the most beloved and most trusted man in all of Georgia.

The meeting took place less than a week after World Down Syndrome Day (March 21), established by the United Nations in 2012 to provide a chance to raise awareness of the problems faced by those who suffer from this syndrome.
