Thanks to the establishment of a social clinic and pharmacy and a number of soup kitchens, the Metropolis of Nikaia of the Greek Orthodox Church is able to help 3,000 needy families get the food, clothing, and healthcare they need.

1,600 servings of food are offered daily in the Metropolis’ 16 soup kitchens in the municipalities of Perama, Keratsini, Nikaia, Korydallos, Aigaleo, Haidari, and Agia Varvara, reports Romfea.

Due to the restrictive measures and the large number of assisted families, food parcels were distributed this year throughout the month of December, including meat, oil, milk, pasta, flour, wheat, rice, coffee, sugar, and more, as well as candy and Christmas gifts for young children.

Metropolitan Alexios receives the communities with great love, addressing them with words of comfort and stressing that they should not despair, but believe in Christ the Savior. The families thanked him with great joy and emotion.

Visits to parishes for further food distribution are also planned in the coming days.
