St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk is home to both a large monastic sisterhood of about 130 nuns and a large chapter of the Sisters of Mercy.
And on Tuesday, another 10 women took steps to dedicate their lives to Christ in the angelic habit.
In a service led by His Eminence Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, six novices were tonsured as riassaphore nuns, with the names Nun Varvara, Nun Ekaterina, Nun Ludmila, Nun Elena, Nun Tatiana, and Nun Alexandra, the monastery reports.
Additionally, four riassaphore nuns were tonsured into the higher stavrophore degree of monasticism, with permanent vows. Their names are Nun Evpraxia, Nun Fevronia, Nun Serapiona, and Nun Glyceria.
At the end of the service, Met. Benjamin addressed the newly tonsured nuns with a word of edification.
