“It’s impossible to imagine anything more inhuman than to make the Bright Sunday of Christ, which is celebrated by Orthodox peoples in Russia, Ukraine, and many other countries, into an instrument for the escalation of the conflict,” a spokesman for the Moscow Patriarchate said, commenting on reports of possible military provocations in Ukraine on Pascha night.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that it has information that Ukrainian authorities are preparing to shell churches in a number of regions on Pascha night and pin it on the Russian army.

“We are warning countries of the ‘Civilised West’ led by the United States ahead of time that the Russian Federation has an operational base of evidence about terrible crimes planned by the Kiev regime,” Col. Gen. Mikhail Mizintsev, the head of the National Defense Control Center said in a briefing in Moscow on Monday.

In the eyes of the Church, such attacks would be a blow to both Russia and Ukraine, says Vladimir Legoida, head of the Synodal Department for Relations Between the Church and Society and the Media.

“Such plans can only come from forces equally hostile to both the Russian and the Ukrainian people, interested in aggravating fratricidal hatred, creating new obstacles on the way to peace,” he wrote on his official Telegram channel.

“The Church, unable to prevent such a thing, prays that there will be no provocations in churches on Pascha. I hope that all concerned people will join forces to prevent the victimization of Christians on the day of the Resurrection of Christ,” the Church rep concluded.

Referring to its intelligence information, the Russian Ministry of Defense believes Kiev is planning, with the participation of a number of Western countries, to shell churches in the Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, Odessa, Sumy, and Kharkov Provinces.

Western news reporters will be on hand, ready to immediately document the “Russian atrocities,” says the Ministry of Defense, which has already informed the United Nations, the OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other international organizations about the information it has, calling on them to influence Kiev to prevent such a provocation.

Brother Ioann, the 'divisions and offenses' that you speak of were started by none other than the Bishop of Istanbul (or, Patriarch Bartholomew as he is also known); perhaps you might want to start preaching to him first?! Christ is Risen! Christos Voskrese! Al Masseh Kamm! Hristos Inviat! Christos Anesti!

“Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple…. I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.” St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, Chapter 16. Christ is Risen!

Yes, brother Ioann, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee. Either you are very naive or have been totally sucked in by western propaganda.

Ioann: Please wipe your glasses. The article is talking about deliberate shelling of churches, which would include the killing of many Orthodox faithful, only in order to blame it on the Russians. Meanwhile, the Russian army has been carefully avoiding civilian targets, which has made the war go on longer, because the Ukrainian army--mainly the fascist Azov battalion--has been using civilians as human shields. Can't you see by now just what kind of government in in Kiev? It is a puppet government that doesn't give a d***n for its own people. The sooner that government is gone, the better.

Thanks for this public service announcement. To clarify, the Russian military takes responsibility for the attacks in Ukraine on Forgiveness Sunday, through the Fast and through of Holy Week. In the near future, they will attack Ukrainians on Good Friday and Holy Saturday BUT they will take a break on Holy Pascha. Is it safe to assume that Russian military attacks on Ukrainian targets will resume on Bright Monday?
