Belgrade, May 17, 2022
The primates and hierarchs of the Serbian and Macedonian Churches will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy in Belgrade on Thursday.
The celebration will mark the liturgical manifestation of the restored canonical communion following the decision of the Serbian Bishops’ Council yesterday.
The Serbian Orthodox Church reports:
With gratitude to the Lord and with joy, we inform all the fullness of the Holy Church that His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid and Macedonia, together with all the hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric, will celebrate the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Sava in Belgrade, on Thursday, May 19, 2022, which will establish liturgical and canonical communion of the two sister Churches, by the decision of the Holy Bishops’ Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
We invite the faithful people of the capital city of Belgrade to prayerfully participate in this unique and joyful event.
The hierarchs of Serbian Church resolved yesterday to receive the previously schismatic Macedonian Church back into communion as an autonomous body within the Serbian Patriarchate.
