Over the past decade, the Romanian Orthodox Monastery of the Holy Cross and St. Ephraim the New has been actively developing its property in Ontario.

After seven years in Toronto, the monastery acquired its present property in the small town of Mono, Ontario.

A sketch on the monastery website shows the brotherhood’s plans for the property, including a church, a summer altar, cells, a refectory, a well, a pavilion, and a gate:

On Wednesday, the monastery announced that it has finished repairs to the roof of the monastery chapel. Additionally, the monastery is in the final stages of receiving approval from the city to start building the pavilion, which will be a multifunctional building to be used in the spring, summer, and fall.

“Until we build a larger church, the monastery will use the chapel and also the pavilion to conduct its Holy Liturgical services throughout the year,” the monastery reports.
