His Eminence Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia of the Patriarchate of Constantinople reposed in the Lord on August 24.

Yesterday, he was laid to rest in Wolvercote Cemetery in Oxford.

The All-Night Vigil and memorial prayers were served at St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Russian Orthodox Church in Oxford on Wednesday, August 31, with visitation throughout the night.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated the next morning at Holy Trinity and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Oxford (founded by Met. Kallistos himself) by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium. The service was sung by the choir of the Monastery of St. John the Baptist in Essex.

The Liturgy was broadcast by St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.

At noon, his funeral was served by Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain at the Oxford Oratory Church of St. Aloysius Gonzaga and sung by the same monastery choir.

The Metropolitan was then interred at Wolvercote Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

May his memory be eternal!

Eternal be his Memories, May Lord our God remember His servant Metropolitan Kallistos for his love for unity of our brothers and sisters in Christ. He have been my role model as he converted from Anglican to become an icon and a great resource person in our orthodox faith. As a convertee from Anglican av lost a mentor and and role model. My love for Metropolitan spiritual and interlectuality made me to make a decision to name my first born after him. My son Kallistos Njuguna was born on 15th August 2022.This is a great joy to me and my wife Charity. Its our prayers that he will grow loving God and dedicating his life to the church as his namesake Metropolitan Kallistos.Am a Kenyan citizen and a seminarian at patriarchal seminary in Nairobi Kenya.I wish to have an invitation during Metropolitan Memorial service. Through the prayers of our Metropolitan Kallistos and Lord Jesus Christ may we live in love and unity.Amen
