The Holy Archangel Michael and All Angels Skete in Weatherby, Missouri, suffered a devastating tragedy yesterday morning.

A fire broke out at about 3:40 AM, destroying the monastery chapel and main buildings, the skete reports.

“Miraculously, a page from Unseen Warfare by St. Theophan the Recluse survived.”

There is also a convent of St. Xenia located on the same property, which is the home of Mother Brigid, who was a spiritual daughter of Blessed Fr. Seraphim (Rose).

Both monasteries are under the omophorion of His Grace Bishop Longin of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gračanica and Midwestern America.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched, already raising $27,000 of the $50,000 goal.

The campaign provides more details:

Please, first pray, and then look deep into your heart and see if you can help monetarily.

Much is needed after such devastation.

On November 7, 2022 early in the morning, a fire destroyed the only chapel and main building of the monastery. This monastery is surrounded by small cabins where the monastics live as in the first centuries of Christianity. The Monastics are all well, glory to God.

This monastic community is part of the Midwest Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church and is occupied mostly by American converts - Holy Archangel Michael and All Angels Skete in Missouri.

Please Help monetarily, and leave the names of your loved ones with your donation so that the Monks and Nuns can pray for them daily.

PS The holiness and relics from within the chapel have now spread through the ashes to all the land the monastery possesses as seeds of grace for the future of the monastery.

IMPORTANT

This effort is blessed by Vladika Bishop Longin (Bishop of the Midwest Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church)

Update 2:

Update from Mother Johanna: We lost so much in the chapel but also the whole library of the sisterhood with books spanning the  50 years of Mother Brigid’s monastic life, the woman’s guests rooms, laundry room, sewing room, essentially the working life of the siaterhood.
