Dozens more baptized into Christ in the Congo

Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo, January 17, 2023

Nearly 200 more catechumens were baptized into Christ recently in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In all, 172 people of all ages received the washing of generation at the Church of St. Andrew in Kananga on January 5, with the participation and blessing of Metropolitan Chariton of Kananga (Patriarchate of Alexandria), reports Romfea.

This mass Baptism comes just after hundreds were baptized in Katanga on New Year’s Eve.

The catechumens in Kananga were baptized, chrismated, and adorned in white robes and crosses. “As many as have been baptized into Christ” was sung in both French and Greek.

The newly illumined then received the precious Body and Blood of Christ the next day on the feast of Theophany.
