Serbian Patriarch Porfirije arrives in America

His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church arrived in New York today for his first primatial visit to the United States.

He was formally welcomed at JFK by His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Canada and children from the St. Sava’s Church in New York, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

During his visit, Pat. Porfirije will have an opportunity to celebrate the feast of St. Sava in New York, where he will also be updated on the rebuilding process for the cathedral that burned down on Pascha in 2016.

He will also visit St. Sava Orthodox Theological Faculty in Libertyville, Illinois, and hold a meeting with the hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North, Central, and South America.
