Influenced by their aunt, who was a nun in Greece and now serves as abbess of St. Nina Georgian Orthodox Monastery in Union Bridge, Maryland, two of the brothers, Isaac and Zac, became Orthodox more than a decade ago.
And on February 5, Zac, the youngest brother, was ordained to the diaconate by His Grace Bishop Saba, reports the Georgian Orthodox Diocese of North America.

The service was celebrated at St. Nina Monastery with his aunt Abbess Aemiliane in attendance.
Deacon Mercurios, as he is named in the Church, is appointed to serve at the Holy Monastery of St. James the Apostle in Oklahoma.
The diocesan report notes that he is married with five children.
The report concludes: “On behalf of our Holy Diocese, we congratulate Father Mercurios on his ordination as a Deacon and wish him spiritual courage and physical strength to fulfill this high service! Worthy! Άξιος!”
