Several more mass Baptism were celebrated in Africa this week.

On Monday, December 18, Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa of the Patriarchate of Alexandria visited two parishes in the Congo capital to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation. Altogether, 40 natives received the washing of regeneration at the Churches of St. Barbara and St. John Chrysostom, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

Catechumens from the Church of St. Paisios, where the baptistry is not yet complete, were also baptized at the Church of St. Barbara.

The next day, the Metropolitan baptized another 20 people at the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God It Is Truly Meet.

“Joy was painted on the faces of young and old. The light of the candles illuminated the faces of the newly enlightened, a light which His Eminence wished to reflect throughout their lives in the world,” the Agency writes.

More than 400 people were baptized in the Congo last year on New Year’s Eve and in early January.

OrthoChristian reported yesterday on the recent Baptism of 25 people in Malawi.
