Vientiane, September 18, 2024
The faithful of the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky in the Laotian capital of Vientiane have prepared school supplies for the elementary students of a nearby school.
Fr. Dmitry Lavrentiev celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church on Sunday, after which the parishioners and their rector prepared the kits, reports the Russian Orthodox Church’s Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia.
Regular services began at the church in February of this year.
The kits are for children of a school in the village of Popko, an hour’s drive from the capital.
The sets include school supplies such as paper, notebooks, pens and pencils, as well as candy. They will be distributed to the elementary schoolchildren. The school has about 150 children altogether.
OrthoChristian earlier reported on the distribution of backpacks and school supplies by a parish in Moldova, by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, and by the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Râmnic.
