An Orthodox priest of the Patriarchate of Antioch sustained injuries in Israel’s ground offensive in southern Lebanon earlier this week.

On Monday, it was reported that Fr. Gregory Shalloum of the Church of St. George in the village of Ibl al-Saqi in southern Lebanon was seriously injured and taken to the Marjeyoun Government Hospital.

Yesterday, it was reported by a number of outlets that Fr. Gregory had succumbed to his injuries.

However, the Patriarchate of Antioch’s Diocese of Tyre and Sidon refuted such reports, saying that while Fr. Gregory was injured, he is still alive:

The Diocese of Tyre, Sidon, and their dependencies of the Greek Orthodox Church denies the reports circulating on social media about the martyrdom of Father Gregorios Salloum, the priest of Ibl al-Saqi, after the targeting of the town yesterday.

The diocese confirms that Father Salloum is fine and requests the prayers of the faithful for his speedy recovery.

May God grant Fr. Gregory a full and speedy recovery!
